In the U.S., World Duty Free Group operates nearly 250 stores in more than 30 airports, including some of the country's biggest and busiest. Our stores range from newsstands to convenience, bookstores to specialty retail, and luxury brands to branded stores developed to meet specific traveler demographics.

Under the direction of the HR Manager with operational guidance from Directors' of Operations this role coordinates and completes all HR-related tasks in assigned locations.

Specifically, the HR Generalist:

  • Ensures that all federal, state, local laws, collective bargaining agreements and corporate HR-related compliance matters are proactively managed, including but not limited to A.D.A, EEO, Affirmative Action Planning, FMLA, Customer Guarantee of Fair Treatment, and TSA
  • Ensures proactively that all items on the HR Audit are in compliance with applicable laws and company policies
  • Ensures positive associate relations
  • Conducts investigations as assigned
  • Coordinates and manages the administration and confidential investigation of Worker's Compensation/unemployment issues, Affirmative Action, EEO, Sexual Harassment, Guarantee of Fair Treatment, FAA, and other employee relations issues
  • Partners with branch leadership to discuss and manage current and future staffing levels; identifies and selects the most qualified candidates for open positions
  • Negotiates and finalizes offer letters and employment processes for new hires and promotions.
  • Performs all recruiting duties within the guidelines of Company policy and government regulations such as EEOC compliance and Affirmative Action Plans
  • Ensures consistent application of all Company and local policies
  • Performs general administrative functions including but not limited to employee file maintenance, legal compliance logs, and PeopleSoft systems' data entry/maintenance
  • Promotes positive union relations and application of CBA, if applicable
  • Manages as needed the day-to-day job performance of the HR Clerk position
  • Performs all other responsibilities as dictated by the business or assigned by Senior Management

Qualifications include:

  • 4-year degree or equivalent work experience; working knowledge of HR technical subject matter as well as local, state and federal regulations
  • 3-4 years of HR Generalist or related experience; recruiting experience preferred; SHRM certification a plus
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality
  • The ability to speak, read and comprehend instruction, short correspondence, CBA's, and policy documents, as well as to converse comfortably with associates
  • Basic management and leadership skills in order to function independently with little or no supervision, as well as the ability to be an integral part of an overall team
  • Electronic media literacy and functionality in preparing documents, spreadsheets, and presentations; PeopleSoft HRMS familiarity a plus
  • Willingness and ability to travel
