Exciting Opportunity for HR Generalist seeking new challenges and career growth!

In conjunction the with Director of Human Resource Services, the Assistant HR Director will lead human resource programs and services, including recruiting and talent management, compensation and benefits, training and development, team member and labor relations, HR legal compliance, and workplace diversity.

Provide a leadership role in promoting the company culture and vision, and ensure that HR strategies are closely aligned with company business strategy.

Provide training and interpretation of polices, programs and benefits derived from multiple handbooks and collective bargaining agreements designed, developed or negotiated by HR.

Support a positive work environment by assisting in conflict resolution and conducting internal investigations whenever necessary.

Work with construction division in meeting contract compliance requirements, including workforce diversity, affirmative action and apprenticeship training.

Work with insurance and benefit consultants to develop programs beneficial to team members including cost effective management of a self-funded health plan.

Assist with compensation and benefit programs that support and retain high achievers. Communicate Company's Core Values and lead and support the Company's nine Corporate Objectives.

Job Requirements


Education, training, experience:
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 to 10 years of HR generalist experience in a management level position.

Demonstrated ability to build relationships and trust at all levels of the organization; must have strong interpersonal skills.

Proven ability to solve problems, manage multiple projects simultaneously and demonstrate excellent time management.

Coach managers and help them to be effective leaders. Excellent written, verbal, listening, coaching, facilitation and negotiation skills.

Ability to communicate, interact and work collaboratively with diverse groups, ranging from field to professional and management positions.

Ability to find resolution, deliver difficult feedback and advise management.

Proficient with MS Office.

Holds a Bachelor’s degree in human resource management, business, organizational development, or other related field.

Additional desired qualifications include:

Understanding of construction unions and contract negotiations.
Managing retirement and benefit plans and leading annual compliance audits and filings.
Ability to work with outside counsel for effective human resource strategy and resolutions.
Demonstrated ability to support and lead teams.
Development and achievement of diversity and training goals including affirmative action plans.
Succession planning and organizational development capabilities that directly impact business strategies.

Well-rounded human resource generalist experience in a union environment, HRIS skills, and demonstrated success in leading an HR department.
