Position scope:
This is a new position established to support the professional development of Hospitality and Tourism Management students at San Francisco State University.
We are looking for an entrepreneurial individual who can work independently to develop student professional skills including verbal, written and presentation abilities while building relationships with hospitality industry professionals to encourage recruitment opportunities. It is a unique opportunity.
Key functions of the position are: providing the services and information resources that enable Hospitality and Tourism management (HTM) students to take active responsibility for their career decisions and job searches in the hospitality industry; preparing HTM students for employment by enhancing their job skills, such as resume writing and interview skills; and fostering relationships with hospitality employers to provide students with employment opportunities.
The Director/Lecturer would be responsible for teaching professional development courses within the Department of Hospitality and Tourism management (HTM) and for managing the J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott Foundation Global Student Career and Professional Skills Development Program.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
• Teach undergraduate (and graduate courses when applicable) in hospitality professional development courses including business communications and internship experience.
• Provide services to expand students’ professional skills including written and oral communications, leadership training, team building, networking, business etiquette, and cultural and global awareness. Arrange presentations to students on career related topics.
• Coordinate career related events and programs, such as the HTM Career Fair and Symposium, Student Industry Mentorship Program, and on-campus recruitments

Job Requirements

Education, training, experience:
Master’s degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management, HR or related field.
Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
Proven experience in employee or student skill development.
Minimum of three years related experience is required with five years preferred.
